Nardcore 30 Years Later - REVIEWS

"NARDCORE 30 YEARS LATER" LP/CD
This is a follow up to the 1984 classic NARDCORE LP , the packaging is incredible, a
gate fold LP with a CD containing bonus tracks.20 tracks on the LP and 36 on the CD.
It also contains quotes from Ian MaKaye, Henry Rollins, Fat Mike, Joe "shithead"
Keithley and others, Remembering and giving recognition to what the early nardcore
scene meant to them. Top all that off with a 180 gram colored vinyl and a 28 page
fanzine containing band info and a lot more...

What about the bands:
ILLREPUTE,DR.KNOW,RAT PACK are 3 of the bands that were on the original
release and still prove that they can hold there own 30 years later. The rest of the bands
are mix of local bands and bands from the surrounding areas showing that
NARDCORE is alive and well. Once again Tony Cortez has put together a killer
compilation and made this an instant collectors item!!! I could get into a full
description of each band, but every band on here pretty much kicks ass and I have been
listening to it straight for the past 4 days. Burning Tree Records and all involved out did
themselves on this do yourself a favor and get 2 copy's...

The next document in the ongoing legacy of Oxnard hardcore punk has hit the streets like a punk skater holding a surfboard: The LP Nardcore 30 Years Later, unlike the minimalist aesthetic of its music, is packed with punk novelties.
The 180-gram vinyl, white-marble-color record comes with a 25-page fanzine, a sticker and a CD featuring twice as many songs as the LP, and is a damn cool collector’s item for any fan of the local scene or for punk fans in general. Quotes from legends like Henry Rollins, Ian McKaye and Fat Mike cover the inside lining, praising and reflecting on the influential Oxnard scene during its heyday in the ’80s. But don’t be fooled; this is not a fawning retrospective. The record is true to its tradition of being a showcase for current local punk. To middle-aged punks who are scratching their heads at the 30-year anniversary figure: don’t worry, Alzheimer’s hasn’t kicked in yet because, while it’s only technically been 25 years since Mystic Records put out the first
Nardcore compilation in 1984, Tony Cortez of Ill Repute, the main force behind the release, traces the scene back to 1979 with the band The Rotters. Catch “Local Licks” on Monday, July 27 at 6 p.m. to hear what Cortez has to say about it and to hear some tracks off the record.

V/A lp "Nardcore; 30 Years Later"
I was able to pick up a handfull of this new (Part 2 to
Nardcore) from Ill Repute last week. It's another release that
is very hard to get and will not be found in many stores at
all. First let me start with the packaging. man, I bet they
had to take out a 2nd on their home to pay for this one! 180
gram vinyl, colored, gatefold, free cd, glossy covered
fanzine, where does it end? And the artwork was drawn by the
original artist who did the first one! Oh, and the music!!! As
with most comps there are some bands I like and some I don;t.
Ill Repute is the best by far in my opinion. Brand new songs
from these Nardcore legends. Solid, powerful, melodic
hardcore. The others are hit or miss depending on YOUR taste
but this is a "must have" in my opinion! get it while you can,
these are selling FAST! Http://www.drstrange.com/search.php

Just got my copy of the comp. One word: Fucking Awesome.
And I've only listened to about half the CD. Absolute top-notch quality package put together
with a great deal of love and respect for the music and the bands that perform it. It's hard to say
what I like most about it: the music itself, the "Master Of Reality" raised lettering on the cover,
the beautiful job they did on the front cover with the glossy artwork over the flat black mat, the
badass tat photos on the inside, the thick, two-toned, vinyl LP (seriously, this thing is as heavy as
an old 78), the bonus tracks on the included CD, the old school style fanzine... Shit, the list goes
on and on. Christ, the cover to the fanzine is a work of art in and of itself. Again, congratulations
to all those involved. As most of you know, I wasn't born in the 805, but projects like this make
me proud to call the 805 my home. Well done, guys.
